Rain

(Meindert Inderwisch)

Rain comes down and changes windows
That we looked through once as solid heroes
When my thoughts were swift in peaceful silence
In the house I lived unstained by violence
When the rain, lovely rain soothed my brain

Times have changed and things I longed for
Are now strange and old not what I cried for
When my mind was young and full of wrong ways
That meandered through my head in those days
When the rain, all this rain soothed my brain

Bridge:

When skies are grey I draw the curtains
And I hide myself in what is certain
No more rain to fill the tracks of sorrow
Let the sunshine in and hope for better days
